Practicum Positions

Please find below some samples of paid internship positions that may be available for you, based on your educational background, work experience in hospitality, language skills, and time of the year.

Banquets Server
Responsibilities: Several types of service involved, including plated and buffet dinners and breakfasts, working lunches, coffee breaks and banquet bartending. Complete set up and tear down of meetings, and functions, including the moving of banquet tables and chairs. Providing creative propping and room decoration for theme dinners and functions. Catering to groups of 5 to 600 guests.

Bartender
Responsibilities: You will prepare all bars which may include transportation of liquor, with a strong emphasis on equipment care, and safety. You will ensure prompt and efficient service of all beverage items in accordance with laws and the standards of excellence service set forth by our resort. You will maintain cleanliness in the bar service areas and may be required to assist on the floor during meal service for special functions. To be considered for this position you must have previous cocktail bar experience.

Bell Person
Responsibilities: Responsible for delivering tour luggage to assigned rooms as well as individual guest luggage when requested. To execute all bellmen work orders and guest requests.

Dining Room Server
Responsibilities: Prior fine dining table and wine service experience necessary for night positions. Prior serving experience required for day servers. Basic Food Safe & Serving it Right.

Front Desk – Customer Service Representative
Responsibilities: Assist guests with arrivals and departures, Handle guests' concerns, Offer referral for services and handle requests for information, Handle and store luggage, Assist with the check-in and check-out of groups and tours, Provide valet parking, Assist other departments as required.

Guest Services
Responsibilities: To handle, and guide all aspects of the arrival and departure process as it relates to the Front Office in accordance with key standards. Effectively resolve guest complaints ensuring the guests’ needs are exceeded. Assist / handle emergency situations, and make prompt decisions based on the best interest of our guest and establishment. Maintain a high level of professionalism, providing exceptional guest service. Work closely with the Accounting department. Some duties include reconciling daily revenue from all revenue centres and preparing daily reports. Knowledge of all Hotel facilities/services, as well as the resort area, with the ability to promote and direct guests to these areas. Participate actively in a multi-functional work environment. Provide excellent guest service. Be supportive of creativity and innovation, with a willingness to embrace and take part in changes. Work towards continuous improvement and quality.

House Person/ Room Attendant
Responsibilities: sweep and mop floors and/or vacuum carpets, dust and polish furniture, and keeping it arranged properly, vacuum draperies and upholstered furniture, empty ashtrays and garbage containers, sort, count, mark and fold linens, make beds and/or change bedding, scrub, disinfect and polish bathroom fixtures, replace towels, soap and other supplies, report damage, theft and articles found to the executive housekeeper or supervisor, observe precautions required to protect hotel and guest property, keeping storage areas and carts well stocked, clean and tidy.

Retail Sales Consultants and Rentalists
Responsibilities: Retail Sales and Rentals. Greeting each customer, finding out why they are here and what activities they are doing. Give them every opportunity to buy all the excellent products and services that we sell that suit their needs. Doing store maintenance including restocking, cleaning, merchandising and creating excellent displays. All to ensure we have a vibrant, colorful and professional presentation at all times.

Reservations Agent
Responsibilities: Respond to all calls, e-mails, voice mails, faxes or requests made in person in a timely, knowledgeable, courteous and professional manner, using benefit selling when applicable. Provide accurate quotes and information to our customers. Ensure that all customers are aware of our different packages, specials and applicable conditions, they understand associated deposit and cancellation policies, check-in and check-out times and policies as well as descriptions of any additional services or amenities included in the price.

Sales & Special Events Coordinator
Responsibilities: Establish and maintain communication with tour companies. Effectively manage reservation system. Coordinate and assist with group arrivals. Coordinate and assist with special functions and guest requests. Assist with the development and implementation of promotional activity. Assist with training on the ticket sales system.

Server / Waiter / Waitress
Responsibilities: Ensure exceptional service delivery of all Food & Beverage services. · Participate actively in a multi-functional work environment. Maintain a high level of professionalism, providing exceptional guest service. Be supportive of creativity and innovation. · Other Food & Beverage / Banquet duties as required. Work towards continuous improvement and quality.
